Sydney Slusarski #17
Class of 2020
My name is Sydney Slusarski. I am a 4.1 honors student going into my junior year at Tecumseh High School. I am #17 and play Center/Wing back, as well as Midfield. I also play for Michigan Rush Jackson, and have been involved in the Rush National Select Program. For high school I have received All County and All District first team awards for 2 years, as well as All-League Honorable Mention. I have scored in the 99th percentile on my PSAT for both my Freshman and Sophomore years, which is important because I aspire to be a future doctor. Soccer is one of my biggest passions and I hope to continue playing in college.
Coach Goodman: I have had the privilege of being able to coach Sydney, one of the most technically gifted players I have coached with a massive soccer IQ. Sydney is the type of player who will win you the important games by moments of individual brilliance but is also a team player making key passes and getting back to defend to help the team. In 2018 she scored 18 goals in 18 games, and played almost every minute as an attacking midfielder, which is an accomplishment as for her club team she plays a more defensive role. Even though she is only a Junior in 2019, she is one of the most experienced players on the team and her commitment to helping herself and the team get better made it an easy choice to pick her for varsity captain in 2019. In my past college coaching experience: Sydney would be a starter and first team player at any NAIA, D3 or D2 school and could easily see playing time at D1 soccer. I truly believe Sydney will leave Tecumseh with almost all of the attacking records, and with the help of the other captains lead this team to continued success in 2019-2020.
Coach Twiss: Sydney is the kind of player who can win games all by herself. There are star players, then there are superstars: Sydney is the latter. Sometimes it is almost difficult to coach Sydney as it is a challenge to avoid being mesmerized by how she plays. She is always doing something soccer related and excelling at it. I am excited to see her continue to become comfortable with when and how to take over games, and I look forward to what Sydney will accomplish in her last two years of high school, and as her coach I'm constantly thankful she is on my team and not teams we have to prepare for!
