Katy Foss #14
Class of 2020
Positions: DRLC, MRL
Katy Foss has been playing soccer since she was 3 and began playing travel soccer at the age of 8 for TASC (Tecumseh Area Soccer Club) and switched to Jackson Rush at the age of 9. She has played for Jackson Rush ever since and has enjoyed the opportunities the club has given her. For example, she played for the Michigan select team her u12 year and got to play in Colorado against fellow Rush players from all over the country. At Tecumseh High School she has been a varsity player as well as team captain for her first two seasons. Katy has a 4.2 GPA and is interested in studying environmental engineering in college. "I do not know what my future holds in terms of soccer but will continue playing in some way whether that is through a college or just pickup games, as I just have a deep love for the game" - Katy.
Coach Goodman: Katy was the first Freshman I have ever named team captain, this title and leadership was given as at the start of the 2017 season she went to every single pre-season training session and showed a commitment to a team that (at the time) had very little commitment to working hard, with only 2-3 girls showing up to training. Katy started off as a defender for Tecumseh and is in the middle of the transition of moving to a more midfield role an area that I believe she will excel at, her passion to learning this new role has seen her stay extra at practices and working hard in the off-season. I believe we will see some great soccer out of Katy in 2019. Katy is very athletic and has finished top 3 for endurance in 2017 and 2018, and top 3 for technical ability as well, her stats show she is a solid defender already breaking into the career defensive clearances category. Katy is very coachable and would do well in any level of college soccer, especially for teams looking for a highly committed and academically sound athlete.
Coach Twiss: Katy has shown commitment to the team beyond a coach's wildest expectation, sometimes to the point that she suffers for it purely for caring so much. Katy carries an engine that never stops going no matter the score, the time, or the weather. It is incredibly easy to see that as Katy goes so goes the team. Never does she retain a sense of entitlement, often spending hours in the offseason to work with a coach even by herself. I've spent probably 20+ hours with her focused on new technique or honing old technique. In hot, rain, and cold she's always willing to put in work. She also builds a wonderful rapport with her teammates making her a well respected captain and friend. Katy is a blessing to coach and her commitment will take her as far as she desires.
