Eliza Snelling #19
Class of 2020
Positions: DRLC

Player Bio:

My name is Eliza Snelling and I will be a junior at Tecumseh High for the upcoming 2018-2019 school year. I play defense. As a freshman, I started on the JV team for six games, but then I was moved up to starting varsity where I also began my sophomore year. I developed a love for soccer when I started playing at the age of 3. I have played soccer for parks and recreation, our local travel team TASC (Tecumseh Area Soccer Club), and am currently with FCA (Fellowship of Christian Athletes) where I have played since 2014. Outside of soccer, I am a member of NHS and I also play the cello for my HS orchestra.
Soccer has given me many opportunities including camps and performing community service work. This sport has taught me many things, but most importantly to always push forward no matter what the circumstance. I tore my ACL this spring and underwent surgery to repair my knee this summer. I am confident that I'll return to my position stronger than ever and even more determined than before. My future goal is to continue to play soccer if it aligns with my academic interests and college. I am very thankful for all the lessons soccer has taught me, and would welcome the opportunity to continue playing.
Coaches Observations:

Coach Goodman: Eliza is one of the best defenders on the team, that was shown in 2018 when she went down with an injury our team struggled defending the other teams star players. This is the role that Eliza takes defending the strongest wing player on the opposing team, she is a shut down defender and wins almost all the 50/50 balls, on a one vs. one situation she always seems to get a foot in and win the ball. What make Eliza a special player is her kindness to the team and her willingness to work harder then everyone without complaint. She started off her 2017 career on Junior Varsity and with injuries to defense that season we pulled her up for a few games, but Eliza took her opportunity and is now irreplaceable as a varsity starter, out of all the defenders I have coached in the past Eliza has the most memorable tackles, I think it’s because she is quiet and reserved off the field (at least with coaches), but has some of the hardest tackles that she seems to do with ease. In 2018 Eliza suffered a ACL injury, but as s testament to her commitment, she has been to volunteer practices and kept in communication with the whole team, she is ahead of schedule with her return date, and I truly believe she will be back stronger then ever, I cant wait for that smile when she returns to play in the 2019 season!
